About the African Social Movements Baraza
From grassroots organizations to large-scale movements, African activists and advocates have been instrumental in shaping the continent’s social, political, and economic landscape.
Inspired by its literal meaning in Kiswahili, the African Social Movements Baraza brings together social movements from all 54 African countries, providing a platform for conversation, networking, solidarity building, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
It serves as a critical space where activists, advocates and change-makers convene to exchange ideas and strategize on addressing the pressing social issues facing the continent.
Over the last several years, the global political landscape has been characterized by a deepening poly-crisis. Supported by TrustAfrica alongside several progressive donors and enablers of change, the Baraza is a platform and collective opportunity for the re-imagination of the future and where vigorous grassroots organizing build real people’s power to address these challenges and drive the transformation towards a more just society.
