About ASM Baraza
The global political landscape is currently characterized by a deepening poly-crisis—a time marked by significant disagreement, confusion, and suffering caused by multiple, simultaneous problems that collectively have a profound impact. Some of the pressing challenges today and over the next decade include poverty, erosion of social cohesion and societal polarization, natural disasters and extreme weather, large-scale involuntary migration, environmental degradation and climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem collapse. This moment calls for a re-imagination of the future and vigorous grassroots organizing to build real people’s power to address these challenges and drive the transformation towards a more just society.
From grassroots organizations to large-scale movements, African activists and advocates have been instrumental in shaping the continent’s social, political, and economic landscape. Join us for the African Social Movements Baraza 2024, themed “Power of Movements,” from November 20-22, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. The Baraza aims to bring together social movements from all 54 African countries, providing a platform for conversation, networking, solidarity building, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
The ASM Baraza 2024 will serve as a space for activists, advocates, and change-makers to come together, exchange ideas, and strategize on addressing the pressing social issues facing the continent.
